Droplet Privacy Policy
Droplet is a private app for controlling your own Rain Bird LNK Wi-Fi sprinkler controller. It is built to need no account and to collect no personal data. This policy explains exactly what the app does and does not do with information.
The short version
- No account, no sign-in. Droplet never asks you to create an account or log in.
- No tracking, no analytics, no ads. Droplet does not use any advertising, analytics, or tracking SDKs, and does not build a profile of you.
- Your data stays on your device. Your controller details, zone setup, schedule, and preferences are stored locally on your phone (the controller's password is kept in the device's secure keychain).
- Droplet talks to two things only: your Rain Bird controller on your local Wi-Fi network, and a public weather service for forecasts.
What information Droplet uses, and where it goes
Your Rain Bird controller (local network only). Droplet communicates directly with your controller's LNK Wi-Fi module over your home Wi-Fi to read status and run zones. This traffic stays on your local network. The controller's device password is stored in your phone's secure keychain and is sent only to your controller.
Weather data (Open-Meteo). To tailor watering to the weather, Droplet requests forecasts from the free, public Open-Meteo service (open-meteo.com). These requests include the approximate latitude and longitude of the area you are watering so the forecast is local. They do not include your name, device identifiers, account, or any other personal information. See Open-Meteo's terms for how that public service operates.
Location. If you allow it, Droplet uses your device location once to set your watering area's coordinates (you can also enter a place by hand). Coordinates are stored locally and used only for weather and watering math.
Notifications. If you turn them on, Droplet sends local notifications from your own device (for example, when it skips a watering for rain). These are generated on-device; no push server is involved.
What Droplet does NOT do
- It does not collect, sell, share, or transmit your personal information to the developer or any third party.
- It does not require, create, or use a Rain Bird cloud account.
- It does not include advertising, analytics, or cross-app tracking.
Data retention and deletion
All of your data lives on your device. You can erase it at any time from Settings → Start over, or by deleting the app. There is no server-side account to delete because none is created.
Children
Droplet is a home utility app and is not directed at children.
Purchases
If you buy Droplet Pro, Apple processes the payment. Droplet receives only a confirmation from Apple that the purchase is valid, with no name, email, or payment details.
Changes
If this policy changes, the "Last updated" date above will change. Material changes will be noted in the app's release notes.
